SURFING SOUTHERN SIMEULUE AND NORTHERN SUMATRA
Full Live-aboard Package: Sail away into the sunset and wake up to the pounding of private, equatorial surf ... the Banyaks, Treasure Island, north-western Sumatra ... or an adventure of your own making. Eleven nights aboard our luxury, Western style live-aboard ship, Sjalina (See our Activities page). Cost of package includes hotel accomodation in and out of Medan, full transfers and return flights from Medan to Simeulue and back. Full board and snacks, non-alcoholic beverages and three beers a day. Fully fitted, includes tender, satellite phone, TV, DVD, fishing equipment, and more. All equipment available to you.

Combo Packages: Five days aboard our live-aboard, and five days at Baneng Beach Retreat, surfing the Banyaks and Simeulue islands. Or stay for five days at the resort before sailing off to the Banyaks. Included in these trips are airport transfers to and from the Danau Toba Hotel in Medan, your stay at the hotel, your return charter flight from Medan to Simeulue, meals, bottled water, and use of the camp’s equipment. Beer is included on the boat leg of your equatorial surf adventure. Take a budget surf charter - and cruise in style.

Land Package: Maximum ten days, minimum five days at Baneng Beach Retreat surfing waves on South Simeulue. The daily rate includes three meals a day, bottled water and transport to all the local breaks. If your feel like exploring on your own, hire a motor bike from the resort, park it right on the beach next to your wave, and surf to your heart’s content. Soft drinks are available at reasonable prices. Domestic flights are NOT included in the daily rate below.

ITINERARY

LIVE-ABOARD PACKAGE: Arrive in Medan and overnight before flying out to Simeulue on Friday morning on your private charter. The flight takes about an hour. Get met at the airport by a representative of Baneng Beach Resort and taken directly to your ship, Sjalina. You will surf southern Simeulue for the afternoon, before heading off to a discussed and chosen destination overnight. Awake to the breaks of your earlier choice. Surf and roam around the islands for the next 10 days. On the 11th night, sail back to Simeulue, and catch a flight back to Medan on Tuesday morning. Connect with the 1530 Malaysian flight out. Silk Air, Garuda Indonesia and Air Asia also all have afternoon flights out of Medan.

The new Cessna Grand Caravan planes that we use between Medan and Simeulue have experienced Western pilots and follow strict safety procedures.

LAND/BOAT TRIP: Surf on 11 days for the price of 10! Your group of six will arrive at Medan on Thursday afternoon. They will be picked up at the airport and transferred to the excellent Danau Toba Hotel, where you will spend the night. On Friday morning you will be picked up, taken to the airport, and placed aboard your private, chartered plane bound for Simeulue. The flight takes approximately an hour. Baneng Beach Resort staff will collect you from the airport and take you to Baneng Beach Resort. Surf for the rest of the day, and the next five days. Baneng's guides will take you to the waves each day. Or grab a motorbike, with a surf-rack, and head off on your own adventure. On Wednesday night, step on to our live-aboard, and sail off into the night. Awake to find yourselves at the Banyak Islands. Surf heaven. A full five days of exploring and surfing. Sail back, overnight, after the fifth day of surfing from your live-aboard ship, and arrive at Baneng Beach Retreat on Tuesday morning. You will be taken to the airport, where your private plane will pick you up to fly you back to Medan in time for the afternoon outbound flights.

BOAT/LAND TRIP: Arrive in Medan on Thursday afternoon or Friday morning. If you arrive on Thursday, get picked up at the airport and taken to the Danau Toba Hotel, where you will spend the night. Get organised and enjoy the sights and sounds of Medan on Friday morning. Catch a flight around Friday lunch time for Simeulue after being picked up from your hotel and taken to your charter plane. Or get picked up on Friday at the airport when your flight lands and get taken to your private charter plane. The flight takes approximately one hour. On arrival in Simeulue, you will be taken to your live-aboard ship, and set sail into the night. You will spend the next five days surfing the Banyak Islands, before heading back to Baneng Beach Resort. Here you will chill out a bit and surf Simeulue Island's southern waves for 5 days. Finally, 11 days after arriving, you will be taken back to Simeulue's airport for your return flight to Medan, arriving around lunch time, in time for all the outbound flights.

LAND PACKAGE: Arrive in Medan and fly out to Simeulue on Friday afternoon. The flight takes about an hour. Get met at the airport by a representative of Baneng Beach Resort and taken to the camp. You will surf southern Simeulue for ten days and depart around midday on the 11th day. You will arrive in Medan on the Tuesday, in time to connect with the 1530 Malaysian flight out. Silk Air, Garuda Indonesia and Air Asia also all have afternoon flights out of Medan.
