THE HOME BREAKS Surf a variety of perfect Sumatran waves right on your doorstep.
We only cater for six guests, so you can surf perfect, uncrowded waves with just your mates. All the local breaks are only a short trip away from the camp, the furthest being a one hour ride. Dylan’s 'right' is only 1km from the surf camp.
We offer excellent, exotic budget surf travel. Your private guide will discuss the next day's possibilities over your evening meal ... and you can then wake up and decide to do whatever you wish. He will take you wherever you want to go.

OCEAN EXPLORING
THE LAND/BOAT COMBINATION Share your Baneng Beach Resort experience and spend nearly a week on our beautifully appointed live-aboard, Sjalina. Head off into the unkown in search of surfing perfection around the Banyaks. Board the ship at night, set sail, and awake to the secrets of the Banyaks, and northern Indonesia's other magic spots. (See our Packages page)
FULL LIVE-ABOARD EXPERIENCE Don't bother with basing yourself on land at all. Step aboard Sjalina on day one, have a quick surf, just get your feet wet, and sail off into the night to wake at Treasure Island, or a destination of your choice. All the Banyaks and north-western Sumatra is yours. You say when and where.
SJALINA
Our well-known live-aboard is fully fitted with safety equipment, comfortable sleeping quarters and a very spacious layout. Relax and enjoy the surfing, watch the action from the fly bridge or just chill out in the main deck lounge areas. Sjalina is 50ft long, and is perfectly proportioned for six guests. She cruises at 10 knots, runs on a 250hp Mitsubishi engine, and carries a rubber duck tender.
Consistent Indian Ocean swells make their way up to Sumatra between April and October - and it is rarely flat during the main season. Simeulue Island itself also offers great, smaller waves during the low season, a perfect time for the grommets and beginners to get their first sniff of Indonesia's legendary waves.
Surf Conditions:
We always hope for great surf. Unfortunately, there will be times when surf conditions are less than desirable and perhaps unsuitable for the less experienced surfer. Baneng Beach Retreat or its representatives shall not be liable in the event, due to climactic or other reasons, that satisfactory surfing conditions are not available. |
