At Baneng Beach Retreat you have a wide range of activities to choose from.
Most people come to surf on and around Simeulue, the most northern surfing island in Indonesia. It is not far from the legendary Nias Island, yet seems a million miles away from the crowds, crush and wave aggro of Nias and the Mentawais.
We offer exclusivity to surfers. Real exclusivity. Baneng is the only surfing camp on Simeulue. We only take six surfers at a time. There is no fighting for waves, no lining up all the way down the break. You will only surf with your five friends and experienced guide.
Or you can join one of our famed Combo Tours, where you get the best of both worlds - five days on our remote island and five days on the beautiful live-aboard, Sjalina, surfing the legendary Banyak Islands, south of Simuelue. You choose whether you sail first, or sail after your frontier island experience.
If your don’t feel like surfing, take a stroll along Simeulue’s deserted white sandy beaches.
Grab your goggles and flippers, walk up the bay and float over coral gardens. Hire a motor bike from the camp and take yourself off on your own adventure. Stroll up the hill, then up the mountain into the jungles where few have trodden before.
While we personally love the marine activities: surfing, swimming, fishing and beach-combing, the interior of the island is wild and unexplored. Visit a traditional village, enjoy a beach BBQ, or just find a hammock, lie back and dream.
