Most of our guests come to SURF Simeulue, the most northern surfing island in Indonesia.
If you don’t feel like surfing, take a stroll along Simeulue’s deserted white sandy beaches, or grab your goggles, hop off the boat and float in crystal-clear water over coral gardens.

Or try your luck trolling for a game fish.
Or take a road trip up or down our coast.
Or jump on a motorcycle and visit the colourful town of Sinabang. Or just find a hammock, lie back and dream.

We also offer satellite TV, table tennis and badminton.

Our accommodation is spacious, cool and comfortable with a combination of dorm-style, doubles and ‘losmans’. All beds have mosquito nets.

We can accommodate up to 20 guests, but generally limit the number of surfers to eight, unless by prior arrangement.

We are also happy to accommodate non-surfing friends and family. After a full day of surfing, fishing, diving or exploring, you can relax in our comfortable lounges or open-air deck.

We offer satellite TV and you can also keep in touch via cell phone.

Laundry services and facilities are included, so there is no need to bring loads of clothing.

Simeulue is situated off Sumatra’s West coast, just north of the equator. Large ocean swells generated off Antarctica travel across the Indian Ocean and break on the many reefs surrounding the resort.

Getting here is relatively easy – no long boat or bus rides.

Medan, the capital of Sumatra, is the gateway to Simeulue with daily direct flights to the island (60-70 minutes on Susi Air).

You can fly direct to Medan from Singapore with Singapore Airlines and Air Asia; from Kuala Lumpur with Malaysian Airlines; from Jakarta with Garuda; and from Hong Kong on Air Asia.

Several budget airlines such as Tiger, Lion and Jet Star Asia fly to Medan from various destinations in the region.

Travel Protection Insurance is highly recommended. We advise EVACUATION INSURANCE.

Depart Medan by Susi Air (usually three flights daily) to Sinabang Airport. (We can arrange for your group to be met at Medan Airport and transferred to your domestic plane.)

On arrival in Simeulue a representative of Baneng Island Resort will meet you and drive you to the resort where you will be warmly welcomed.

You can be in the water surfing within an hour of your plane landing and you will surf at your leisure during the duration of your stay. For those on the Surfer’s Package, our experienced guides will advise on your surfing options and you will decide where and when you want to surf. Your schedule depends entirely on you and your friends, and on prevailing surf conditions. You will also have the option to go fishing, snorkeling or exploring by boat or car.

At the end of your trip you will be taken to Sinabang Airport for your flight back to Medan and your connecting flight home.

Note that you may need to overnight in Medan, depending on your connecting flights. We will be happy to advise you on your accommodation options.
